FIRST AUDITION (10 to 15
minutes)
Quite simply, the first audition listens for the boy's
ability to match pitch. That is, to echo with his voice what he has heard.
Most every boy can do this well. Contrary to popular opinion, being truly
"tone-deaf" is extremely rare and most pitch "problems" can be easily corrected
if the singer is properly trained.
ALL BOYS WHO LOVE TO SING ARE ENCOURAGED TO AUDITION. |
SECOND AUDITION (15 to 20
minutes)
At the second audition the boy's range, type of voice,
aptitude, rhythmic ability, and further pitch matching skills are evaluated.
Parents meet with staff at this time to discuss the entire program.
| NOTE: There is no music to prepare
for auditions. In fact, it is the Choirmaster's preference that the boys
have little to no prior training or formal experience. |

THIRD (& FINAL) AUDITION
Upon passing the First and Second Auditions boys become
"Candidates".
All Candidates attend two regular rehearsals, participating
in every aspect. This allows the Choirmaster to evaluate the boy as part
of the choral ensemble and provides an opportunity for the boy to experience
the choir before making the complete commitment to membership in the Florida
Boychoir. |
